Funk Island

FUNK ISLAND

PRIVACY POLICY

Last updated: August 30, 2026

Funk Island is a game made by Raphael Almeida Araujo. This policy explains what the game collects, why, and how you get rid of it. It is short because the game collects very little.

WHAT THE GAME COLLECTS

If you play as a guest

The game creates an anonymous account so your progress can be saved to the cloud. That account is a random identifier — no name, no email, nothing that identifies you as a person.

If you create an account

Your email address and a password. The password is never stored as you typed it: our authentication provider stores a one-way hash of it, and the game itself never sees the stored value.

Either way, while you play

Your saved games: the state of the run — the island, where you are standing, your hearts, your funk score, which ship parts you found — plus the level, the score and the date of each save, so the game can show you the three slots.

The public ranking

The site's home page shows a top 25 of the highest runs. What appears there is the part of your email address before the @ — nothing else of the address, and never the address itself — together with the level, the ship parts, the funk and the presents of your best save. If you play as a guest, no name exists: you appear as guest plus four characters of your account identifier.

The list is rebuilt every 12 hours from the saves. If you would rather not be there, erasing your save slots takes you off at the next rebuild, and deleting your account takes you off immediately.

What the game does not collect

The website

The pages of this site — this one included — use Google Analytics, through Firebase, to count how many people arrive, which pages they open and roughly where in the world they are. It is there to tell whether anyone is finding the game at all. It sets a cookie with a random identifier so a second visit is not counted as a new person; it carries no name, no email and nothing tied to your game account, and it is never joined with your saves. The game itself, on your phone or in the browser at /play, loads none of this.

Your browser is the switch: block cookies for this site, or use a tracking blocker, and the measurement simply does not happen — everything on the site keeps working. What Google does with what it receives is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.

WHY, AND WHO ELSE SEES IT

The data above exists for one reason: so you can close the game and pick the run back up on any device. It is not sold, rented, or shared with advertisers, data brokers or anyone else.

The saves and accounts are stored by Supabase, which hosts the database on our behalf and processes nothing beyond storing it. Like any internet service, their servers record technical request data such as IP addresses in their own logs.

Access is enforced per user at the database level: a save row can only be read or written by the account that owns it.

DELETING YOUR DATA

Inside the game, the pause menu lets you erase any of the three save slots at any time. Erasing a slot deletes that saved run permanently.

To delete your whole account, together with every save attached to it, use the account deletion page: sign in with the email and password of the account and it is deleted right there, immediately and for good.

Lost the password? The forgot password page sends you a link to set a new one, and nothing in the account changes.

If you cannot sign in at all — a guest account has no password, and email addresses get abandoned — write to raphox.araujo@gmail.com from the email address of the account, or tell us the guest identifier shown in the account screen. The account and all its saves are deleted within 30 days, and nothing is kept afterwards.

You may also ask what data is stored about you, and ask for it to be corrected, at the same address.

CHILDREN

Funk Island is not directed at children under 13, and the game does not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, write to the address above and it will be deleted.

CHANGES

If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new date at the top. Substantial changes will also be noted in the app's store listing.
